Description
Stonehenge is considered to be one of the most important historic sites in the world. On the winter and summer solstice, thousands gather at the stones to watch the sun rise over the heel stone. The site attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. Around 4500 years old, the actual stones were quarried in Wales and transported from there to be erected in this location. A fantastic feat given that each stone weighs many tons and the journey was over 100 miles.
